HomeAway was incorporated in the state of Delaware in April of 2004 under the name "CEH Holdings Inc." and changed its name to "WVR Group, Inc." in September of 2005 and to "HomeAway, Inc." in May of 2006.

HomeAway became a publicly traded company on June 28, 2011. The company offered 8 million shares at a price of $27.00 per share.

HomeAway's shares are listed on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the trading symbol "AWAY."
